Documentaries

This feature length documentary takes an in depth look at the chemical glyphosate and its story or lack thereof in our society. The story starts with Roundup, as it is the most widely used weed killer in the U.S. whose primary ingredient is glyphosate. Interviews held with the world’s top scientists and leading public health experts reveal that the harmful effects of glyphosate on human health has been systematically hidden from the public sphere.

Why Is This Urgent?

The filmmakers have discovered that glyphosate has found its way into just about every category of human consumption. Products ranging from cereal to meat to tampons and even human breast milk have reported traces of glyphosate. Twenty years of widespread use of Roundup has landed the toxic chemical, glyphosate, in many of our bodies.

It is important to note that glyphosate is used in 90% of the top five commodity food crops that have been genetically engineered to resist this chemical. These crops are then used in more than 75% of the processed foods sold in the United States. Therefore, it is no secret the glyphosate is highly prevalent in our society.

Glyphosate and its Impact

It becomes increasingly alarming to find out that the World Health Organization announced that glyphosate is a “probable” human carcinogen. Currently, the company manufacturing Roundup is facing more than 700 cancer lawsuits as they had been advertising a product that did not disclose the repercussions and health issues of the chemicals being utilized in it.

Not only is it a cancer-causing agent, but glyphosate has been linked to negative reproductive impacts when exposed to pregnant women. For instance, reports have shown evidence of shorter pregnancies, smaller babies, and even stillborns.

The Next Steps

There are three large companies who are responsible for manufacturing products with this chemical, all of which are exposed in the film. People are becoming increasingly aware of the negative impact and its widespread prevalence in our society. Action must be taken in order to hold people responsible and try to mitigate the situation. Partnerships for Change was proud to play a role in helping fund this film, and we hope you see it and spread awareness.
