Since 2001, PFC has sponsored the Humanitarian Hall of Fame monk, Lama Tenzin Choegyal, and his heroic efforts to rescue children from the Upper Dolpo region of the Himalaya Mountains. The journey involves trekking 10-14 hours/day for 20 – 30 days while climbing over altitudes of 18,000 feet through treacherous conditions, often encountering mercenary – like Maoists who demand payment for passage. The brave monk and his group of children push through the insurmountable odds to the orphanage where Lama Tenzin has created a safe and loving home as well as private school education.
