Why Here, Why Now?

Time is of the essence to liberate health in a piece of Liberia. After 16 years of war, the Ebola crisis and 14 years of recovery, Liberia is still just rising from these shocks. The people of Johnsonville hope to have health blossom at the Emmanuel Health Clinic by providing healthy birthing and preventing disease. They need our help to bring health to life. We write to ask for your advice and support.

The civil war that started in 1987 destroyed most health care facilities in Liberia. This clinic is one chance to help Liberia become healthier. Liberia may seem a far off distant place. But by the grace of the internet, Partnerships For Change® was asked to help bring the clinic about. And now, we are honored to invite you be of service and expand the web of care.

Who and What?

Emmanuel Cooper, a resident of Johnsonville, saw Partnerships For Change®(PFC) on the web and he took it upon himself to help the people in his community have health care. He called, asked, and we have now worked with him for over 2 years to prepare the ground for this project. We have been able to independently confirm Emmanuel and his project with a needs assessment and on-site visit. The land has been donated, PFC is certified to work in Liberia, and the building of a community-centered health clinic has just started, the foundation being laid.

This clinic has the chance of being state of the art by providing renewable energy, potable water, wifi, and health service to serve the whole community of 40,000. See a brief background:

How?

The clinic will provide health services for up to 100 patients per day. PFC has opened a Liberian office with an on the ground team from the local parish. The Clinic’s ground breaking has already occurred. Now, we are seeking of $110,000 to build the facility and an average of $90,000 to support and maintain medical personnel and medical devices, solar power, maintenance, and funds to train community health outreach workers. We are fortuned to work with Johns Hopkins Hospital and the Bloomberg School of Public Policy to advise on the best ‘preventable disease” approach and health advice for pregnant women. We seek a fund of $400,000 to build and operate the clinic and support it’s medical personnel and supplies for a three year period.
