Partnerships For Change® Profile of Projects in India
Partnerships For Change® established a long-term relationship with the Franciscan Nuns at the Bon Secours Convent to promote and build a Women’s Empowerment Center in the village of Sendivakkam, India. Over a 2-year period, PFC raised the necessary funds to secure the completion of the Women’s Empowerment Center and provided new sewing and embroidery machines along with community water well. The new facility offers the women training and counseling to design, produce and sell their embroidered fabrics. For the first time, these women are encouraged and empowered be self-sufficient and consequently provide income to house, feed and clothe their families. For many, it is the first time their children are able to attend school.
The dedication and ground breaking ceremony of the Women’s Empowerment Center was attended by Partnerships For Change® members, Andrew Michael, Jacqueline Miller, Kathy Shade Hooper and Rich Diefenbach, along with Students For Change.
